Moments of Musing

Hello, June!

There are LOTS of big things happening this month:

Moving into our new apartment

Soooooo… We’re renting. The NYC market to buy is a bit ridiculous and stressful right now so we have decided to wait another year.

Nesting
I plan to pack my hospital bag, wash all of Baby L’s clothes and set his nursery up. For now, he will sleep in his bassinet next to us. His room is a bit far away from ours so I’m still not sure whether his crib will start off in our room or his. It’s so exciting that he could make his big arrival this month!
Festivities
We have lots of fun celebrations coming up: a wedding shower, a bridal shower, and an engagement party! I just love celebrating family and friends and dressing my bump up so I’m looking forward to it all ๐Ÿ™‚
Professional Maternity Shoot
As you know we took our at-home photos (see above) ourselves so we could display some photos at my baby shower. The shoot with our amazing photographer (Jen Larsen) was originally planned for May but the weather didn’t cooperate. The shoot is now scheduled for mid-June and I’m excited. Fingers crossed the forecast is better this time around.
Cue the beginning of summer and I couldn’t be happier. To be alive. To be healthy. To be carrying our baby. To have the support we do. Life is just beautiful.

Beautiful Baby Boy Shower

How many times can you say that fast? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Saturday was my beautiful baby shower hosted by my amazing mom (and dad, of course). We were “showered” with so much love from family, friends and coworkers–from both near and far. We are grateful for each and every ounce of support. It is evident that #alittlelewis is a very loved baby already๐Ÿ’™
Without further ado:

First Mother’s Day (as a Mom-to-be)

I’ve always wanted to be a mommy. When I was little I was that girl who had a bunch of toy dolls, which I treated like my babies. Before I ever pictured myself as a bride and wife or lawyer, I pictured myself as a mom.
That’s why this year–and those to come–is so special. The bouncing baby boy growing inside me is making me a mom. He’s making my biggest dream come true.
I say it over and over again but this whole experience has been amazing–the ups and even the downs. I feel like it’s all preparing me for the selflessness and worries of being a parent.
The other morning when Tim and woke up and I looked over and said good morning… I imagined what’d it be like with our little one joining us in bed in the mornings. I simply can’t put into words the overwhelming excitement I feel whenever I imagine life with him.
As for my own mom, she is the type of mom I hope to be: I hope to be as selfless and kind. As supportive and loving. Thank you, Mom for being the best mom for me. You’re going to be such an amazing grandma.

P.S. Today is the last day to enter the giveaway (see post below) for your chance to win a $75 gift card from PinkBlush. Don’t forget to enter!

Dressing my bump + Giveaway

I have to admit it’s been tough to see the number on the scale rise, even for the right reasons. Despite the weight gain, I still love showing off my baby bump. Being petite, I prefer clothing on the tighter side so I don’t look bigger than I am. However, finding clothing that makes me feel good during pregnancy has been quite the challenge.

c/o PinkBlush Maternity

Enter PinkBlush. Not only is the maternity clothing fashionable but it’s also chic. It makes me feel like a beautiful pregnant woman. I feel stylish in the clothing but more importantly, I feel comfortable. Fortunately for my readers who are not pregnant, Pink Blush offers both maternity and non-maternity clothing (plus sizes available), accessories, as well as baby toys and gear.

I’d been eyeing the Pink Blush Maternity line since the moment I found out I was pregnant. Heck, I might have browsed it before I even found out… (I had baby fever, people!) When I saw this lace midi dress in ivory, I knew I liked it. When I saw it in fuchsia, I had to have it. I just love everything about it– the color, the fit and the style.

My dress for our maternity shoot is also from Pink Blush Maternity but I’m keeping that one a secret for now ๐Ÿ˜‰
Now, one of you can score a $75 gift card to PinkBlush and discover why I love it so much. Just enter the giveaway and check back next Wednesday to see if you’ve won. Good luck!

Pregnancy Myths

In honor of my wonderful pregnancy and my 500th post(!), I want to be real with you all. Many things are not what pre-pregnant me thought they would be. And so I present to you a list of pregnancy myths:

Pregnancy is nine months long.
This is tricky. Your baby is forming for nine months but gestational age is actually calculated from the date of your last menstruation. Put together it all equals 40 weeks, or ten months.
Only your back will ache.
From neck to chest to abdomen and feet, my body has ached in more places than I thought possible.
Morning sickness only happens in the morning.
It can happen all. day. long. I could feel great one morning and horrible in the afternoon or evening.

Morning sickness only consists of actually puking.
I mostly got such bad nausea and at times, wish I could puke and get it over with.

It also only happens in the first trimester.
FALSE. I got such a wave of nausea during the beginning of my second trimester. I’m not sure if it was motion sickness or what but I carried a barf bag in my purse for my commute to work.

I’m sure there are more that I can’t think of right now.  If I’m forgetting any that you can think of, please do share in the comments!
