TO INFINI-3 & BEYOND! Birthday Party

Filed Under: birthday party, kids birthday, life, party decor, toy story 4 birthday, toy story birthday // July 1, 2019

Three years ago our world was forever changed for the better when our older son made us parents! When I started thinking of his birthday party, I figured I’d ask him what theme he’d prefer. A the time, he really loved Paw Patrol and I also thought up the Infini-3 and beyond theme since he’d recently watched the Toy Story movies.

When given the option, he chose “Woody” as his birthday party theme. So I ran with the Toy Story theme.

We had so much fun celebrating & will love our boy to INFINI-3 & BEYOND! ❤️

Boss Baby Birthday Party

Filed Under: 2nd birthday, kids birthday // July 11, 2018

We recently had S’ Boss Baby Birthday Party. I picked the theme after seeing photos of it and thinking it was fitting for him. After all, he is a Boss Baby. It also helped that he likes the movie and Netflix series.
This party was fun to put together (I designed the invite and favor tags). It also did not require much decor, which was great for my last-minute planning. Not surprisingly, having a newborn at home and trying to figure out how to parent two under two demanded most of my time and attention. Nonetheless, I wanted to give S a fun birthday party, especially since (1) there was a torrential downpour during his First Birthday Party and (2) he’s a bit older now and can do and enjoy himself more.
As promised, here are some photos:

S’ Birthday + 4th of July Weekend

Filed Under: kids birthday, life lately // July 5, 2018

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend.
We kicked it off last Friday with S’ birthday and the celebrations continued until yesterday, with yesterday being our most relaxing day. I’ll leave you with a recap in photos and then I’ll be back next week with the details of S’ Boss Baby birthday party. It was my favorite theme yet!
Right after I took this photo, I said “This is two!” He had recently woken from a nap and wanted nothing to do with photos or partying just yet.
My loves and me in front of our hired ice cream truck for S’ party… It was a hit, especially since it was a heat wave outside!

Fresh flowers picked for our home by my mother-in-law… such pretty colors, right?

We spent a day at the beach here on Long Island. The beach with kids is definitely different but seeing their joy in the ocean is worth it.
Did you catch that the boys’ tank top (S) and shorts (R) are the same pattern? I love matching them! We stayed home most of the 4th,  went out to dinner with my father-in-law, and then came back to watch some neighborhood fireworks and the Macy’s fireworks on TV.

Have a great weekend!

First Birthday Week Thoughts

Filed Under: first birthday, kids birthday, motherhood // June 26, 2017

It’s Monday morning and if you’re new around here, please know you won’t find me wallowing about it being Monday. New week, new beginning. That’s my motto. …If you’re not new, there’s your 82737th reminder that I’m kinda sorta a Monday person.

Anyway, I’m feeling extra recharged today.
It could be: (a) S falling asleep at 8:30PM. (b) the summertime sunshine — I’m not kidding. I love this stuff. (c) the big week we have! S turns 1 year old! (d) all of the above.
As for my babe’s upcoming birthday, we had a little birthday photo shoot and OMG I’m obsessed. With the photos but moreso him.

I thought I’d be really sad in the days leading up to it. But I dunno–I’m actually pretty pumped. I feel like this is LIFE. We WANT to see him grow and develop and be a healthy human. Right?? So what’s there to be sad about? Sure, I can’t cradle him in the crook of my arm but he still snuggles. And he calls me Mama and holds my hand. There are big pros to watching him grow.

This really is a big milestone. The first year! We did it. All 3 of us. My husband and I have survived our first year of parenting — it’s not easy, in general or on a marriage — and our boy is reaching his first year of life on the outside!
Maybe I’ll cry as I fall asleep on his birthday eve? Maybe I won’t.

Basically, what I’m saying is the best way to describe this time is bittersweet. But it’s much, much sweeter than it is bitter. And, as you can see, I’m trying my best to be positive so I don’t turn into a messy mush of a mama. I just want to be happy and excited. (Even though I do feel like the year could have not gone by so fast sheesh…)

Cheers (mocktail for me) to that!
P.S. Boy, did it feel refreshing to write a “normal” not-so-cohesive life post/tangent. I miss the blogging days when that was the norm. If you do too, feel free to check out my archives–it’s chock full of those posts.
