Moments of Musing

Live life now…Not later, not tomorrow, not next year

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about my cousin Abby, who passed in March of cancer. This time last year we were getting back from a last-minute family vacation to Disney. The group of 15 of us pulled it off because Abby wanted to go. I didn’t know if my husband and I could make it work but we did.

This past weekend, I wanted to make the most of it since summer is winding down. On Saturday, we planned to go to the zoo. However, when I started thinking about the 2 1/2 hour round trip drive, I thought maybe we should leave it for next year when both boys would be bigger and able to enjoy it.

Then, I realized next year is a long time away. Why wait for a whole year to pass by? Why not enjoy the zoo and life with my little guys in the stages they are now? And so, that’s what we did. We went to the zoo and we had a lot of fun, all four of us.

On Sunday, we went to a water park. Again, I had my doubts at the outset. I thought the kids would not really enjoy it since they can’t go on most of the rides. But we went anyway and once again, we all had a blast. The kids section was pretty extensive, Seb loved the wave pool and sand by our cabana, and Raf enjoyed the nice breeze — the cold water, not so much. It was a good mix of fun and relaxation for everyone.

This was all a reminder that life is meant to be lived now. Not later, not tomorrow, not next year. That’s why we have quite a jam packed fall of fun coming up. We’ve decided really recently to head on a tropical vacation because why not? We could all use it.

Abby’s passing reminded me that life is wild ride that sadly is not limitless— we all have a limited number of days and there will unfortunately be an end for each of us. On the flip side of that, she taught me to make the most of the time we do have. She sure did.

We all should, too.

(We miss you, Abby.)

Ah, Life…

Life has been a roller coaster this year. Late last month, my family recently experienced a huge loss when we had to say goodbye to my little cousin Abby, who battled cancer for just under 1.5 years. And now here we are, expecting a new baby to be welcomed into the world and into our family at the end of this month… Ah, life.

Life is beautiful + bold, and tough + raw.

It’s a journey through moments and milestones …

Bloom and blossom whenever and wherever you can.

Sprinkle kindness everywhere.

Love always.

Stay true to your people — and stick by them through it all.

Wishing you all a spring full of renewed hope, energy and life. xoxo

Spring’s Snowy Start

Filed Under: life, snow, spring // March 23, 2018

In case you didn’t hear, a nor’easter (the 4th this month!) dumped 20″ of snow on us here in Long Island. It was barely snowing all day Wednesday and then bam! Nighttime came and the snow was falling heavily.

Despite my longing for springy weather of sun + 70s, I didn’t really mind the snow. I mean, I don’t have to shovel it (thanks hubs!) and it gave me two extra days at home with S this week. (Pictured below is him not-so-stealthily hiding in our pantry cupboard.)
Plus, when my husband and I woke up on Thursday morning to the unexpected mounds of snow, our backyard views were stunning… It looked like a winter wonderland. I have never lived somewhere with so many trees on the grounds and unfortunately, I don’t know how many we will keep vs. remove for safety issues, but that morning all I could do was be in awe of it all. S even wanted to snap a few pics of his own 😉

As I’ve alluded to this week, life has been a bit of a roller coaster of emotions lately- high highs and pretty low lows. Just looking at the snow while flurries were falling felt peaceful and allowed me to feel a sense of gratitude, something I never want to forget to feel.

Thankfully, this weekend’s forecast is pretty full of sun. Bye bye winter! Spring, you’re up!

Happy Love Week!

Filed Under: life, love // February 12, 2018

This post is sponsored by Pink Blush but all opinions are my own. Also, an affiliate link, purchases from which I benefit, is present.

This weekend was a great one. We relaxed, celebrated my beautiful little cousin‘s 18th birthday and relaxed some more. Next weekend is a busy one with family coming in for my Baby Sprinkle so I was happy to get some relaxation in.

I feel like I’d be remiss without mentioning that its Love Week… because Valentine’s Day, duh 😉

So in honor of that, I’m sharing some things I’m loving:

• A letter to moms, love Joanna Gaines. No explanation is needed as to why… I think it speaks for itself.

• This olive oil hair serum. If any of you have complimented or wondered about my curls/waves, this is basically my go-to product. I just put some in my wet hair after washing it and voila!

• Watching the Olympics — admittedly, I’ve only caught glimpses but Adam Rippon’s and Mirai Ngasu’s performances were so good!

• My new top from Pink Blush (pictured below). It is so soft and the sleeves each have a cute little stylish ruffle. It’s a perfect top for brunch …or any day outing, really. I plan to find a blue striped top the same pattern as the sleeves to put my boys in so we can be triplets (or quadruplets if I can find one for my husband, too).

• As always, I’m loving my boys, family, friends, and readers + followers! I saved the best for last 🖤

As for Valentine’s Day, my hubs and I don’t really have anything planned… I am not sure if we’ll do anything besides love on our babe after work (#adulting). Do you have anything special planned?  xoxo

Life’s “Little” Moments

This weekend, I looked over and saw them laying like this.
It was a seemingly normal moment that made me think that the older I get the more I’ve come to realize that the little moments like this really can be some of life’s big moments. And the little things, big things.

Like weekend brunch full of Mickey pancakes and a free cookie for our kiddo.

The biggest baby bear hugs that make me feel on top of the world.

Family kitchen dance parties.

Basketballin’ time in our first floor play area.

Crawling under a play room fort to hide in the teepee.

Bedtime routines full of classical music, book reading and snuggles.

Relaxation on the couch with no hurry in the world.

Everyday life and moments with these loves of mine… for me, nothing can be bigger than that.
