Just Because … I Say So

Just Because link up with Northern Belle Diaries
Today I am blogging about a philanthropy that’s dear to my heart just because it’s amazing: the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon.
Taken from its website, thon.org, “The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON, is a yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer.  Since 1977, THON has raised more than [$100] million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital . . . The mission of the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon is to conquer pediatric cancer by providing outstanding emotional and financial support to the children, families, researchers, and staff of the Four Diamonds Fund.  FTK! [For the Kids!] . . . THON 2013 [took] place from February 15th-17th, 2013 at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center.”
It raised:
FOR THE KIDS!
Bravo Penn State! I’ve never been prouder to be an alumna.
Also, on a side note, I did not want to get out of bed for my 9 a.m. class (just because I was very tired) when I received this response text from T:
Up and out of my bed I went. Everyone deserves someone like T who makes me look forward to another day, everyday. Lucky, blessed me.

Socializing Sunday

Filed Under: linkup, sunday social // February 17, 2013

Sunday Social

 1. Best Valentines Day you’ve ever had:
These previous three with Timmy, especially this year because we won the Bryant Park/Southwest Long Distance LUVers Contest!!!

 2. Worst Valentines Day you’ve ever had:
Probably a high school one when I’d just broken up with a boyfriend and had no special plans. But really, every Valentine’s Day was nice because my family would go out to eat and we’d celebrate our love for each other. It didn’t center around the love of a significant other until I got older.

3. What did you do for Valentines this year?
School all day, weekend full of Skype dates, family Valentine’s Day celebration.

4. Best Valentines Idea if you’re single:
Spend time with girlfriends. Even though most of my girlfriends aren’t single, we are actually having a Valentine’s Day Panty Party, inspired by Pink Lou Lou’s Christmas-themed panty party. We’re SO excited 🙂

5. Favorite Valentines Candy?
CHOCOLATE

6. Favorite Valentines Memory from your childhood:
Getting candy grams and flowers from school friends and my family. Valentine’s Day was always a favorite holiday of mine.

I Confess

Filed Under: Confessional Friday, linkup // February 15, 2013

Happy Friday!
Today I’m participating in:
I CONFESS:
  • I love love. It is what drives me each and everyday. I feel blessed to have my loved ones in my life. I also thinking loving oneself is of the utmost importance. In fact I have this quote tattooed on my rib in script (that’s a confession in and of itself!):
  • I can be an overemotional person. Little brother gets accepted to Penn State, my alma mater? Cry. Win a long distance relationship contest? Cry. Open a present from T that I didn’t know he figured I’d love? Cry. Miss my subway stop on a stressful day? Cry. Potential for impending weather to cancel my flight to see T after his deployment? Cry. T running late to pick me up at airport? Cry. Hating the distance? Cry. Thinking about how in love with T I am? Cry.  HA! I wish I was kidding but he and I say this just means I care a lot and have a big heart … right?
  • I stress out a lot. School, job search distance, pressure, body pains… I feel stress from it all. But I try to stop myself and realize that life is actually going amazingly and I don’t need to stress. So I’ve tried (pretty successfully) to cut back on most of it. God has a plan for me and it will be wonderful so there is no need to stress!
  • I love the SUN. It makes my days happier and cold or rainy days (sun showers are so cute!) so much better. I love leaving the house when the sun will embrace me. So this naturally leads to my love of the beach. (I also love palm trees.)
  • I love doing adventurous things. Hiking? I am IN. Sky diving? Did it! Shark caging? Also did it! I’m not sure what’s next on my list aside from fun hikes but I am excited to find out.
  • I LOVE TO TRAVEL. I studied abroad in Barcelona for 4 months during college; traveled all over Europe during that time; and traveled to China after college graduation. I’ve been all over the U.S. and I would love to go to Tahiti, Brazil, Peru or South Africa next.
#Gladly.
Too bad traveling requires $$$$ …
And on that note you should all check out the  kate spade giveaway for a $110 e-gift card!!
Can you say AMAAAAZING?

Wordy Wednesday: Me in Six Words

Filed Under: linkup, me, six words // February 13, 2013

“I thrive on love and adventure.”
If you know me – or as you’ll learn if you get to know me, I am a hopeless romantic. I have a big heart and I love with all of it. I try to be the most loving girlfriend, daughter, sister, cousin, friend, niece & granddaughter. And if ever I hit a wall in life, love pulls me through. I truly think there is nothing better or quite like it in the world… Except for adventure. Adventure is like it because adventure pushes me to my limits. It creates the beautiful, wonderful memories that fill my beautiful life.
Who are you in six words?

First Things First

Since Sunday is the first day of the week, today I am doing:

First Things First

1. First broken heart

“Love”? Junior year of HS, when my then-bf and I broke up. Life? Fifth grade, when my grandma died </3

2. First thing you do when you wake up in the morning

Look at my phone … either to snooze/shut alarm or check emails/texts (mostly to see if T has sent me anything <3)

3. First high school dance or prom (talk about date, dress, whatever, and share pictures too!)

I only had one high school prom, Senior Prom! My high school “deprived” me of other dances like junior prom, homecoming… and lockers (which I now have in law school, go figure lol)! Womp, womp. Nonetheless, here are a couple pictures of me at pre-prom, June 2006:
