Moments of Musing

Thankful

Filed Under: family, love, parents // February 7, 2013

Tomorrow, my mom is hopping on a plane with me, yet again, to head to Chicago for a final interview. (Please send good wishes and vibes my way!!!) The constant support I get from my parents never ceases to amaze me and for that, I dedicate today’s post to them.

Me at the Great Wall of China, May 2010.
That was my college graduation present from my parents.
That is one of my favorite traveling photos. I would not be able to experience much of what I have and continue to experience without my parents’ constant love and support. As I am approaching yet another big milestone in my life, I’ve stopped to think about what my younger years have held and I just wanted to say THANK YOU (yet again) Mom & Dad for always believing in me and giving me the world.

Happy ____ !!

Filed Under: countdown, family, love // February 1, 2013

Happy February! That means it’s my little brother’s 18th birthday.
Oh how the time flies! I can still remember him as a little baby.
Photo: In honor of tomorrow's #birthdayboy, here's a #tbt of me & baby @louchristopher
I’m excited for him and proud of the young man he’s growing up to be. Next step for him: graduate HS and go off to college!!
And Happy See Timmy Next Month for Me!

Haha I can say that now and I’m ecstatic. Time is moving along. My family will also be in Hawaii for a week while I’m there which will be nice when Timmy’s at work and for us to spend some time altogether in beautiful Hawaii. I was a little bummed at first because I don’t want to have to share Timmy or our time but in reality that’s what normal relationships are like. And I like to make ours feel as normal as possible.
I hope you all have a great weekend!! Since school keeps me busy during the week I might make a post or two 🙂
Xoxo

Someday…

Long Distance Relationship Typography Art Print Set For Couples Someday We
“Someday (hopefully very very very very soon) we are gonna live in the same place and it is gonna be ridiculously amazing!

This super sweet art set includes two of this print – one for each of you! – expressing the hopeful sentiment and designed for couples who are currently and unfortunately separated by the evil villain known as Long Distance.

*********************************

Right now, he may be in Denver and you may be in Orlando, but one day you live in the same place! And with this art, you will each have a reminder to hang on the walls in your current location to remind you of how ridiculously amazing it will be when you get to see each other on a daily basis and “I miss you” calls will be a thing of the past.

Imagine it. You’re lying on your couch talking to your sweetie who is five bazillion miles away. And you’re gazing at this print. And he’s looking at an identical print. And suddenly, badabam, you feel like he’s not so far away. Okay, perhaps that’s expecting too much. So, more realistically, you’re lying on your couch talking to your sweetie who is five bazillion miles away. And you’re looking at this print. And he’s looking at the same exact print. And you’re happily chatting about the day you can trash both of them, because, you, indeed, live in the same place.

The good news is if you decide not to trash them when that happy day comes, they’ll be just as beautiful years from now as they are on the day they’re printed.”

I Keep Calm … And Countdown!

Filed Under: countdown, long distance, love, military relationship // January 19, 2013

See you soon! 🎉🎉🎉 #milso #l0veus #navyso #navygirlfriend
So very excited to be officially just 2 months away from seeing the man I love. Our time apart since his leave has been as good as it can get. We celebrated our 2-year anniversary in a special way. He spoils me with his love and I him with mine.
60 days might seem like a lot. And to someone who isn’t “used” to long distance, it sure is. I remember when I thought ~40 days was a lot. But T was recently deployed and we went 205 days apart so to me 60 is a walk in the park. That’s not to say, of course, that each day without him is not one day too many. I think that goes without saying. But I was happy to have woken up to this number today nonetheless 🙂
Happy MLK weekend!

2nd Year Anniversary Date

Filed Under: anniversary, long distance, love, military relationship // January 16, 2013

This is a little late but better late than never, right?
So, Monday was our 2 year anniversary. T called me during the day to tell me to pick out a movie so our skype date could also be a movie date. I was thrilled. We skyped for about an hour before the 2 hour movie. In that time, he opened his presents and we just chatted. We each also had wine so we could toast and just sip on some during the date like we’d have done if we were physically together. His roommate came home and asked him if he’d had a bad day because he was drinking wine, and T was like “no it’s our anniversary!” and went on to explain to him that he was even wearing a tank top I’d gotten him when I vacationed in California 🙂

Last night was a reminder that we work so wonderfully together and that for us, distance doesn’t suck as much as I guess it could. Anniversaries and romantic holidays, such a Valentine’s Day and Sweetest Day, are still great for us because we make them special together. We are devoted to one another and somehow we make the most out of our relationship as best we could despite the 6,000-mile separation.
All in all, it was the most perfect evening and I couldn’t even really tell we weren’t physically in the same room, we were so connected. I love him. So much. I fall more in love everyday and I constantly feel blessed.
