R U Ready for Some Football??

This post is sponsored by DecoPac but all opinions are my own.

This weekend, I told my husband a lot may have changed for us over the course of our relationship but some things have remained the same. One of those things for us are fall football weekends. They consist of (many) wings, college football (Go Penn State!) and NFL Sunday, and always have.

Admittedly, it took me some time to actually enjoy football season. As a Penn State student, I loved attending the games and actually developed an interest in watching the games I did not attend. It took me a few more years before I started enjoying NFL football games, though.

I used to complain to my husband about all the time he’d sit in front of the T.V. watching the games. But honestly, it is an exciting sport (injuries aside) and I figured if he’s going to watch it, I might as well join him. I’ve even played Fantasy Football with him but that lasted just one short season before I decided it was too much work for my liking.

This year, we’ve got two little boys, one of whom is old enough to understand and enjoy sports. He cheers on teams as they’re running for touch downs and it is so cute to watch! He also loves sweets, so this cake from Stop and Shop was obviously a hit. As you can see, he dug right in!

Show your team spirit and get your own officially licensed NFL cake at your local Shop & Shop bakery. We cheered on the Giants’ Saquon Barkley, who is a Penn State alum… Who did you cheer for?

You can show your team spirit and pick up a fun NFL cake like ours at your local Stop and Shop!

Child/Baby Safety Month

This post is sponsored by Ameriwood but all opinions are my own.
I feel like I say this every month but August sure does feel like it flew by. I can hardly believe it is almost over. I recently saw a quote “August is the Sunday of summer” and it’s so true. Like I said in my last, however, we have a fun fall lined up so I’m not too sad… besides the fact that I have to go back to work. I will miss my boys so much.
Speaking of fall, September will be here next week! Did you know September is Baby/Child Safety Month? Here are some tips for baby safety via Baby Safety Zone:

  1. Choose and use age and developmentally appropriate products.
  2. Read and follow all manufacturer’s instructions, recommendations for use, and warning labels.
  3. Register your products and establish a direct line of communication with the manufacturer.
  4. Actively supervise- watch, listen and stay near your child.
  5. Frequently inspect products for missing hardware, loose threads and strings, holes, and tears.
  6. Monitor your child’s growth and development and discontinue use when needed.
Therefore, when buying furniture like this stylish Novogratz Addison 4-Drawer Dresser, it is important to adhere it to a wall. The dresser comes with a wall anchor safety kit.

It is important to anchor it to a wall as soon as you set it up. This will prevent it from tipping or falling over and causing injury. Children love to climb things and jump. They do not understand the consequences of their actions. It is up to us parents to keep them safe. Thankfully, Novogratz helps by providing us with that wall anchor safety kit.

BlogHer Creator Summit 2018–3 Takeaways

Two weeks ago, I stepped out of my comfort zone to attend an afternoon and evening of BlogHer
events for my blog and social media. It started off with a rocky, much-longer-than-anticipated commute but ended on a high note. My time at the BlogHer Creator Summit was great but the dinner I attended afterwards was the icing on the cake.

Of all I learned that day, the biggest takeaways from my time there were:

1. Showing up matters.
Half the battle is actually getting the confidence to RSVP and then arrive at a place, especially alone. It could be a great time or it could feel like a waste of time. RSVP and go, anyway. You don’t know who you’ll meet, what you’ll learn or what opportunities might arise.

2.  No one else is you!
There might seem like there are many fish in the sea, but you are the only you there is. So, don’t worry about the hundreds or thousands of other mom bloggers that exist because none of them are you. No one else has your special life experiences to share with readers. You are one of a kind. You are unique— use your voice.

3. Community is key.
Meet others in your niche. Share tips. Help one another–i.e. offer to take their photo and they’ll likely take yours. Strike up convo. Exchange emails and business cards. Network, network, network. Need I say more?

Family Planning for Women

Note: This post is informational, not political.

As many of you know, my husband and I recently welcomed our second baby boy. As was the case with my first pregnancy, we discussed at great length having another baby, when we’d like to have the baby and how prepared we thought we were for a new addition to the family. Being able to plan my pregnancies helped ease my prenatal anxiety a lot. I became a mother when I was ready (or rather as ready as anyone can be).

Having that choice in the matter helped me feel a lot more in control at a time when I had little control over everything else i.e. physical and emotional changes. It was important to me to feel that way.

I know not everyone feels that way – being prepared/ ready — when they engage in sexual intercourse, though. That is why Plan B One-Step is an important optionfor women’s health and autonomy of their bodies and their personal choices, although Plan B should not be anyone’s first method of birth control. Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill for those in rare situations when you may have had unprotected sex or failure of your regular birth control method.

Plan B is available at CVS.  For $10 off of your purchase, use this coupon: http://cbi.as/a1wa0. (You do not need to show ID to purchase it and there is no age restriction.)

It is important to note that Plan B is not an abortion pill. It will therefore not affect a beginning or existing pregnancy, and it will also not impact your fertility.

So what does Plan B do? When used as directed within 72 hours of unprotected sex or birth control failure, which is very important, it helps prevent pregnancy before it begins after unprotected sex or birth control failure. That is because it mainly delays ovulation. The sooner you take it, the more effective it is. The active ingredient (levonorgestrel) is actually contained in many common birth control pills. Plan B just has a higher, single dose of it.

There is also a misconception that it is primarily used among young women. In reality, half of the women who use Plan B are 18-24-years-old and the other half are 25 years and older.

Now that you know more about it, my hope is that you will not judge others who have the need to take it or feel ashamed to use it yourself. There is nothing shameful about doing what’s best for yourself and your health!

Back to School Sales = Nostalgia

High School Graduation Photo

I pretty much always enjoyed school. I enjoyed learning, looked forward to socializing and was setting my goals and planning my future from a pretty young age. I guess it’s therefore not surprising that I miss school a bit. To some, it might sound crazy.

After all, I completed four years of undergrad followed by three years of law school so there was no shortage of learning for me. Still, I miss the hustle and bustle, challenge and sitting down to research and write and learn from brilliant professors and classmates. I especially miss college and all of the experiences that came with it. Seeing back to school sales certainly makes me nostalgic.

Due to my law school loans, I will not be going back to school anytime soon ever. As for my toddler, he does not start school for a few years but I am getting ready to get back to work from maternity leave so we’re sort of feeling the “back to school” vibes in our household.

It’s no secret that Amazon is our go-to for online shopping. With the Prime option, we’re able to get last minute things pretty quickly. I know a lot of you are reliant on Amazon, as well.

So, skip the store, avoid the lines and head to Amazon for amazing savings on Kleenex, Scott, Cottonelle and Viva back to school essentials! Shop smart for back to school by saving up to $3 plus 15% on those brands.
